Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in the American School in Taichung (AST). We offer a full American curriculum with a professional staff of almost 100% American & Canadian teachers. Our program is designed to provide a college preparatory experience for all upper classmen, and the literacy skills and basic knowledge to succeed for all lower grade students.

Our curriculum is enhanced by the international environment in which we live and work and we view this as a positive resource to draw on and enrich the educational experience of young people.

Students easily transfer to/from other American-style international schools or North American schools. Additionally, local students with a good level of English proficiency, whose families seek an American college-bound program, enter our school from Chinese and bilingual schools.

We are located in a natural environment in the Da Keng hillside area of Taichung that we believe is very conducive to a learning atmosphere.

Our facility plan includes spatial use for a student population of approximately 225. As such, we are dedicated to providing a quality education with focused instruction and small class sizes.
