AST
serves as an MUN conference center on Taiwan
and hosts the Annual TAIMUN conference with
all Taiwan international schools participating
as well as local schools and international school
from outside of Taiwan.
Students
who participate in the Model United Nations
club at American School in Taichung get to immerse
themselves in the thrills and challenges of
debating global issues in front of classmates
and, eventually, delegates from schools all
over the world. MUN students attend the annual
THIMUN Singapore conference in advance and Beijing
Model United Nations (BEIMUN) every March and
then utilize their parliamentary protocol experience
as officers for the annual TAIMUN conference
hosted at AST.
The
MUN club offers students the opportunity to
delve into the exhilarating world of international
relations. Students research vital global concerns
and develop solutions through the process of
writing and debating resolutions. Members of
the MUN club gain a number of invaluable life
skills, such as: debating, negotiating, researching
and professional writing. Club members need
to be hardworking, self-motivated and dedicated
in order to represent American School in Taichung
as young diplomats. For those students willing
to meet this challenge, the rewards will include
memories that will stay with them for a lifetime.
