AST
Informational Technology Department [IT] has written
and adopted a four year plan to build and maintain a
strong IT learning environment at our school. AST currently
features a student to computer ratio of 4:1 with two
computer laboratories which are the schools' IT learning
centers. The PC based computer laboratories with projection
equipment, has multiple functions including Elementary
and Secondary IT courses, HS Publications and Yearbook
classes and is open to all teachers for core curriculum
integration and research.
Computer access is not limited to
the computer labs only. Every classroom has at least
one computer for student and teacher use, both the
Secondary and Elementary library have 4 computers
each for researching capabilities. The Secondary computer
lab also has wireless access to the network which
enables students and staff to use their own laptops
within. Secondary computer lab and library are open
everyday for student use at lunch time and after school
till 4:15.
The
Information Technology Department has an Acceptable
User Policy [AUP] on the acceptable use of computers,
the school network and Internet access. Students are
expected to read and comply with the policy for all
courses and any computer use throughout the school.
This policy is located in the student/parent handbook
or downloads here.
